Inspired perfumes, explained
Every fragrance in our shop carries a small label: Inspired. This guide explains what that means, and what it does not mean.
What is an inspired perfume?
An inspired perfume is a fragrance made by one perfume house in the style of a well-known scent from another. The perfumer studies the character of the famous fragrance (its freshness, its warmth, its main notes) and creates their own version.
At Raza Perfume, a fragrance labelled “Inspired by Dior Sauvage” is Raza’s own impression of that scent, made by Raza and sold under the Raza name. The name tells you which scent profile to expect.
What an inspired perfume is not
- It is not the original product. It is not made by, or bought from, the brand it is inspired by.
- It is not a counterfeit. A counterfeit copies another brand’s name, bottle and packaging and pretends to be the original. Our fragrances come in Raza bottles, under the Raza name, clearly labelled.
- It does not mean Raza Perfume is affiliated with or endorsed by the brand it references. Brand names are used only to describe the scent profile.
Why inspired perfumes cost less
Much of the price of a designer perfume pays for advertising, celebrity campaigns, elaborate packaging and retail margins. An inspired fragrance puts the money into the scent itself, which is why you can wear a fragrance in the style of a designer favourite for a fraction of the price, and choose it as a perfume or an attar.
Will it smell exactly the same?
An inspired fragrance aims to capture the character of the original: how it opens, what it feels like, how it settles. Every perfumer’s version is a little different, and ingredients and concentration affect how a scent develops on your skin. The best way to judge is to try it, which is why we are always happy to guide you on WhatsApp or at our counter in Kalyan.
Inspired as attar: something the originals don’t offer
Most designer fragrances are only sold as sprays. At Raza Perfume, every inspired fragrance also comes as an attar, a concentrated perfume oil. It is a different, more personal way to wear a scent you love. Read attar vs perfume to see which suits you.
